  • Aryna Sabalenka, the world No. 1, held on to defeat Elena Rybakina 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in a rain-interrupted match, clinching her spot in the WTA Finals semifinals.
  • Sabalenka is now on the verge of securing the WTA Tour's year-end No. 1 ranking. Should she beat second-seeded Iga Swiatek, she would be certain to end the year at the top of the rankings.
  • Jessica Pegula secured her spot in the WTA Finals semifinals, continuing her flawless record in Cancun and extending her winning streak to eight matches. She emerged as the group winner with a 3-0 record, having won all six sets she played.
  • In the other group, Ons Jabeur, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, and Marketa Vondrousova are still in contention for the semis which are set to play later on Friday.
  • The final two matches in the Chetumal Group and the Sabalenka vs. Rybakina match, which was suspended due to rain, were moved to Friday's schedule.
