Arvind Rajbhar Booked Under Rail Act for Unauthorized Press Conference at Mau Station

The SBSP leader and about two dozen supporters face formal charges after a Railway Protection Force investigation found their unpermitted platform event disrupted train operations

Overview

  • On July 19, the Railway Protection Force booked SBSP general secretary Arvind Rajbhar and roughly 24 associates under the Railways Act for holding a March 19 press conference without permission at Mau Railway Station
  • A July 17 letter from the Divisional Railway Manager in Varanasi noted that the unsanctioned event caused significant inconvenience to train services and passenger movement
  • After investigating the disruption, the RPF filed a chargesheet in the Varanasi Railway Court against Rajbhar and 25 unidentified individuals
  • Ghosi MP Rajeev Rai’s complaint to railway authorities prompted the action, heightening tensions after he defeated Rajbhar by more than 1.62 lakh votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha election
  • Rajbhar denies the allegations, asserting he was at the station solely to receive a guest and did not conduct any inspection or formal press conference
