Overview

• The state declared 2025–35 its “Decade of Hydro Power” to harness 58,000 MW through a mix of mega, large and small projects under a stable policy framework.
• Cabinet ministers reviewed the Siang Upper Multi-purpose Project’s national security and strategic implications following its 2008 ‘National Project’ designation.
• Officials approved a dedicated committee on land rates and detailed consultations with Project Affected Families to design a fair rehabilitation and compensation framework.
• The cabinet directed the establishment of new development authorities in Yingkiong and Geku, launched a survey for a Siang river ‘necklace road’, and requested a special development package from the Centre.
• An escrow account was created for free‐power proceeds, with nearly 19 GW under development and projected annual revenues of Rs 4,525 crore from 2035 onwards.
