Overview
- Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) presented Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals at an investiture ceremony on Monday at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Itanagar.
- Twenty-one General Duty personnel, including a Riflewoman, were recognized for exceptional courage, resourcefulness, and leadership in operations and relief work.
- Gold Medal recipients named by the Governor included Deputy Commandant Keshar Singh Bisht, Subedar Diwan Singh Mehra, Naib Subedar Mohan Singh, Naib Subedar Sarbeswar Saikia, Warrant Officer Brij Mohan, Havildar Letkhongam Kuki, and Rifleman Khang Phao Gosak.
- Parnaik praised the Assam Rifles for upholding its motto “Sentinels of the North-East,” describing the force as a trusted presence often called “Friends of the Northeast.”
- Citing his recent review of the Mahila recruits’ attestation parade at ARTC&S Sukhovi in Nagaland, the Governor highlighted the force’s growing emphasis on women’s empowerment.
