ARTF Awards Two Major Passenger-Rail Segments and Moves to Hire System Integrator

  • The rail regulator awarded contracts totaling 32,873.6 million pesos for core corridors in the federal passenger‑rail revival.
  • A Mota Engil México–led consortium won 70.7 km of the QuerétaroIrapuato route (Apaseo el GrandeIrapuato) for 20,203.9 million pesos; Milenio reported work is set to start October 16 with a 866‑day term.
  • A GAMI Ingeniería e Instalaciones–led group secured 136.48 km of the SaltilloNuevo Laredo corridor (Arroyo El Sauz–Nuevo Laredo) for 12,669,670,550 pesos, with construction scheduled to begin October 13 over 1,054 days.
  • Separately, ARTF is preparing a national tender to hire an external technical integrator to coordinate interoperability, RAMS and system testing, with interested firms including Sener, Egis, Transconsult, Cal y Mayor, AECOM, DB Engineering & Consulting and Ingerop.
  • The transport ministry said it will publish a definitive international tender this month for 47 ERTMS‑equipped DMU trainsets for the MexicoQuerétaro, QuerétaroIrapuato and SaltilloNuevo Laredo corridors after revising an earlier draft.
