Arsenal Fan Banned from Matches for Racist Post About Thomas Partey

Charles Ogunmilade, a Black Arsenal supporter, claimed the offensive post was intended as satire but received a three-year football banning order.

Charles Ogunmilade, 28, admitted to posting a racially offensive message on X (formerly Twitter) after Arsenal's 3-3 draw with Southampton in April 2023.
The post, which targeted midfielder Thomas Partey, was described by Ogunmilade as a sarcastic joke mimicking racist language to cope with football-related racism.
Ogunmilade, who is of Nigerian descent, expressed remorse and stated the post was not intended to be a genuine attack on Partey or anyone else.
City of London Magistrates Court imposed a three-year football banning order, citing the public nature of the post and its potential to incite racial hatred.
In addition to the ban, Ogunmilade was fined £125 and must surrender his passport when England plays abroad under the terms of the order.
