Arrest Warrant Issued for Tyrese Gibson in Buckhead Dog Mauling Case

Police cite repeated warnings about dogs roaming before the attack.

Overview

  • Fulton County Animal Services obtained a misdemeanor animal-cruelty warrant on Sept. 29 after investigators said Tyrese Gibson’s four Cane Corsos killed a neighbor’s 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on Sept. 18.
  • Security footage and 911 calls documented the dogs roaming the street minutes before the killing, and officers recorded five loose-dog reports in the preceding week and a half.
  • On Sept. 22, Gibson initially agreed to surrender the dogs but requested more time, prompting a search warrant that night during which officers found he was not home and the animals had been moved.
  • Animal Services Capt. Nicole Dwyer characterized the case as owner negligence, and police reports say the victim dog, Henry, suffered puncture wounds, broken ribs and severe internal bleeding.
  • Gibson’s attorneys say he was away at the time, has rehomed the dogs and is cooperating with authorities, and he has posted that he is taking a mental health break.
