A 25-year-old Venezuelan woman, María Fernanda Villasmil Manzanilla, has been arrested in the Dominican Republic for her alleged involvement in the 2019 shooting of David Ortiz.
The arrest was made by agents from the local Interpol office in Santo Domingo, following a 'red notice' issued shortly after the shooting.
Ten men have already been sentenced to prison for their roles in the attack, including the shooter and the getaway driver, both receiving 30-year sentences.
The shooting, which occurred at a Santo Domingo bar, nearly claimed Ortiz's life, leading to multiple surgeries for the Red Sox legend.
Investigations suggest the shooting was instigated by drug kingpin César Peralta, who allegedly felt disrespected by Ortiz, though Peralta has denied involvement and has not been charged.
