Arrest Made After Deputy’s Window Shot Near Adams County Fire That Killed 2

Authorities say the chase appears unrelated to the deadly fire.

Overview

  • Adams County Fire Rescue says a Nov. 9 house fire in the 800 block of Bronco Road killed two people and a dog, with the back of the home fully engulfed on arrival and flames spreading inside and into the attic.
  • The next morning around 5:39 a.m., a deputy providing scene security in a personal vehicle reported his front passenger window shattered outside the burned home.
  • Deputies located a suspect vehicle and pursued it onto I-25, where it crashed; two people were detained after a brief foot chase that included a K-9 search.
  • Investigators recovered a pellet gun and suspected methamphetamine, and 36-year-old Luis Salomon Juarez was arrested on suspicion of vehicle eluding, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and possession of a controlled substance, while a second person was released without charges.
  • Officials say there is no evidence linking the window-shattering and pursuit to the fatal fire, the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, and victim identities await confirmation by the coroner.
