Around 50 Haryana Men Deported From US Return to India After 'Donkey Route' Entries

Police began inquiries into the smuggling trail after documenting the arrivals.

Overview

  • Officials said a flight carrying roughly 50–54 deportees landed in Delhi late Saturday, after which police transported them to their home districts and handed them to families.
  • District counts reported include 16 from Karnal, 14 from Kaithal, five each from Ambala and Kurukshetra, four from Yamunanagar, three from Jind, and one each from Panipat, Rohtak, Panchkula, Fatehabad and Sonipat.
  • Most are men aged 25–40 who described paying tens of lakhs to agents for multi-country journeys and spending months, in some cases over a year, in US detention, with several reporting restraints during repatriation.
  • Police completed verification and said no formal complaints against agents have been filed so far, while noting a few deportees have pending cases such as excise or electricity-theft matters.
  • In a parallel action, Haryana STF arrested Lakhwinder Singh, an associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, following his US deportation, as MEA figures indicate nearly 2,500 Indians have been returned from the US since January 2025 under tightened enforcement.
