Army-Led Demolition of Corregidora Norte Bridge to Begin Jan. 26, Disrupting Qrobús Routes

State and city officials will unveil alternate routes on Jan. 20 to prepare riders for months of single-lane traffic under an Army-led rebuild.

Overview

  • The Prolongación Corregidora Norte (El Cerrito) vehicular bridge will be demolished and rebuilt starting Monday, Jan. 26, as part of the Tren México–Querétaro project.
  • The intervention will reduce the avenue to one lane in each direction for several months, with local authorities estimating work could run until about August 2026.
  • More than 80,000 Qrobús users across 22 routes that run through the corridor are expected to be directly affected by detours and slower service.
  • Federal execution is confirmed, with the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional’s Army engineering corps in charge of the bridge works.
  • Municipal and state leaders are pressing the federal infrastructure ministry for fuller timelines while AMEQ prepares a mitigation and public information campaign.
