Army Identifies 101st Airborne Sergeant Killed in Training Vehicle Crash in Germany

An Army investigation is underway into the Hohenfels incident.

  • Sgt. Terell Seales, 34, a motor transport operator from Florence, New Jersey, was assigned to the 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team "Strike," 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
  • He died from injuries after a vehicle accident on Oct. 18 during unit training at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany.
  • Col. Duke Reim praised Seales as an exceptional leader, said the unit is supporting his family, and thanked German partners for their swift response.
  • Seales joined the Army in 2021, arrived at Fort Campbell in 2024, previously deployed to Lithuania in 2023, and had received multiple awards including two Army Commendation Medals.
  • The death comes as U.S. forces conduct expanded training in Europe, with recent fatalities reported in Lithuania, Hungary, and near Berlin; officials have not released a cause for the Hohenfels crash.
