Army Grants Body Fat Exemption for Soldiers Scoring 465 on New Fitness Test

High performers avoid tape tests as well as Body Composition Program referral until their next record assessment.

Overview

  • An Army directive effective immediately applies the policy across all components and both general and combat AFT variants.
  • To qualify, soldiers must score at least 80 points in each event with no alternative events authorized.
  • Exemptions remain valid only until the next record test, capped at 8 months for Regular Army and AGR and 12 months for National Guard and Reserve.
  • Units must still conduct height and weight screening and record results on DA Forms 5500 or 5501.
  • The measure continues a similar incentive from the former ACFT, with leaders saying it rewards fitness that supports readiness.
