Navy's comeback attempt fell short after falling behind 17-3, with Lavatai leading the Midshipmen to one touchdown and driving them to the Army 6 in the final 30 seconds, but failing to cross the goal line.
Army's Bryson Daily ran for 84 yards and threw the team's first touchdown pass against Navy since 2015, helping the Black Knights claim victory for the second straight year and the sixth time in eight tries.
Army also claimed the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, awarded to the team with the best record in head-to-head matchups against other service academies, after upsetting then-No. 17 Air Force last month.
