Army Chief Reviews Eastern Front Readiness and Pushes Modernisation

The visits aim to sharpen surveillance, deepen joint operations and bolster logistics to sustain deterrence on the SikkimChina frontier.

Overview

  • Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth completed on-site reviews of Eastern Command formations during a July 14–15 tour that included the Trishakti (XXXIII) Corps HQ at Sukna/Siliguri, Bengdubi Military Station, and the Spear Corps.
  • During briefings the COAS was updated on operational deployments, surveillance architecture and technology-absorption plans such as MR-SAM integration to improve air defence and battlefield awareness.
  • General Seth inspected logistics and sustainment measures for mountain operations and praised troop professionalism and morale while stressing his VIJAY vision of Vigilance, Innovation, Jointness, Atmanirbharta and Yodha First.
  • The visits highlighted the strategic importance of the Trishakti Corps area, which covers Sikkim and the Doklam trijunction, plus the Siliguri Corridor gateway that links mainland India with the Northeast.
  • Officials said the tour reinforced inter-agency coordination with CAPFs and local authorities and signalled continuing emphasis on readiness, humanitarian aid capacity and force modernisation for the eastern frontier.
