Overview

• Prosecutors say Capt. Jacob Suenkel, 32, stole skid-steer loaders, UTVs, trailers, generators, welders, commercial-grade tools and a tractor from Fort Stewart between late 2024 and May 2025.
• He marketed the items on social media, including Facebook Marketplace, and sold them to unsuspecting buyers.
• Suenkel admitted the losses exceeded $150,000 and made an initial $50,000 payment toward the monetary component of his sentence.
• At sentencing he faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and a restitution order.
• He agreed to an adverse discharge that will forfeit veterans’ benefits, and officials described the thefts as a breach of trust with national-security and taxpayer-stewardship concerns following an Army CID investigation assisted by Richmond Hill Police.
