Armstrong Takes First ERC Win at Ceredigion as M‑Sport Seals 1–2

The result sets up a three-driver championship decider in Croatia.

Overview

  • Co-driven by Shane Byrne, Jon Armstrong managed changing Welsh conditions with a bold tyre call, won SS9 and SS10, then stretched the gap by 14.5 seconds on SS11 before clinching victory on the Power Stage to finish 29.2 seconds clear.
  • The triumph delivered M‑Sport and the Ford Fiesta Rally2 their first European Rally Championship victory since November 2020.
  • Romet Jürgenson finished second on his Rali Ceredigion debut in his first ERC outing at Rally2 level, completing the M‑Sport 1–2.
  • Miko Marczyk took third to retain the points lead on dropped scores, while Andrea Mabellini recovered to sixth after a pre‑rally two‑minute recce penalty and set the fastest Power Stage time for five bonus points.
  • The title will be settled at the Croatia Rally in early October, with Marczyk two points ahead of Mabellini on dropped scores and Armstrong 20 points back, and a maximum of 35 points available.
