Overview
- Two armed men allegedly stole a pickup in Lancaster and led authorities on an hour-long chase across freeways and urban streets Sunday night.
- During the pursuit they carjacked a tanker semi-truck after ramming the original vehicle and later exchanged it for other stolen cars near downtown.
- Officers reported at least one shot was fired and the California Highway Patrol recovered a handgun from the initial stolen pickup.
- The chase traversed I-5, I-10 and surface roads through Sylmar, Echo Park, Boyle Heights and Lincoln Heights under live television coverage.
- No arrests have been made and the LAPD, CHP and LASD have launched an active manhunt for the suspects, who are considered armed and dangerous.
