Overview
- Three masked men broke into the Villa delle rane e delle rose on the night of May 22–23 and assaulted and bound the long-time caretaker while searching for valuables.
- The intruders forced open a safe but fled with only a few thousand euros before smashing furnishings and windows and inflicting roughly €100,000 in damage.
- After freeing himself, the caretaker alerted Carabinieri and was taken to hospital for treatment of bruises and contusions.
- Owner Annamaria Bernardini De Pace, who was away during the raid, described the home invasion as “sconvolgente” in a formal complaint.
