He argues the chargesheet contains no evidence under the SC/ST Act or of instigation ahead of his July 30 hearing in the special SC-ST court

Overview

  • Khatri moved his discharge plea on July 9 in the local court handling the abetment case, asserting false implication and insufficient evidence.
  • In the petition he challenges the chargesheet’s claims under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and denies any role in instigating Darshan Solanki’s suicide.
  • Earlier this month he withdrew his quashing petition from the Bombay High Court, abandoning efforts to halt the criminal proceedings before trial.
  • Khatri remains out on bail and the substantive trial has yet to begin since his April 2023 arrest.
  • Police allege they found a note in Solanki’s hostel room blaming Khatri and cite threats made after a communal remark as grounds for the abetment and intimidation charges.
