Overview

  • Rami Sinno, who helped lead Amazon’s Trainium and Inferentia programs, has joined Arm, Reuters reported.
  • In July, Arm said it would devote a portion of profit to developing its own chips and components, with CEO Rene Haas also outlining potential chiplets and complete systems.
  • Arm has added other senior talent, including Nicolas Dube and Steve Halter, to build capability for full chip design.
  • The company is seeking a larger role in AI and data-center processors, a market currently led by Nvidia’s GPUs.
  • Selling its own silicon could allow Arm to capture more value while it continues to earn royalties from its licensing business.
