Overview
- A DHS petition alleges Tamara Hamby orchestrated a Nov. 17 staged abduction of her developmentally disabled adult daughter to deter risky online contacts tied to a Luke Bryan impersonator.
- Affidavits state deputies found the woman with zip-tied wrists and tied to a tree, and a sheriff’s sergeant said she believed the kidnapping was real and did not know her mother was involved.
- Hamby was arrested on felony counts including conspiracy to commit kidnapping and endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, with bond set at $125,000.
- Certified nursing assistant Shannon Childers and friends David Quach and Nico Austria were also arrested in connection with the alleged plot, each held on $25,000 bond.
- DHS took emergency custody on Nov. 21 and filed a probate petition citing abuse and imminent danger, and Hamby has resigned from the Crawford County Library Board after notifying officials of a move out of her district.
