Arkansas’ Kani Walker Diagnosed With Concussion, Released From Hospital, Rejoins Team After Ole Miss Collision

Medical staff followed concussion procedures, with on-field stabilization followed by a precautionary hospital evaluation.

Overview

  • Walker was injured on the first play of the fourth quarter when teammate Caleb Wooden’s legs inadvertently struck the back of his head after a 35-yard Ole Miss completion at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
  • He was stabilized on the field, carted off on a stretcher, and the game paused for about 12 minutes as players from both teams looked on.
  • Arkansas reported movement in all extremities and a thumbs-up from Walker before he was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
  • Coach Sam Pittman said postgame that Walker was diagnosed with a concussion, released from the hospital, and rejoined the team for the trip back to Fayetteville.
  • The fifth-year transfer recorded six tackles before exiting, Arkansas lost 41-35 to drop to 2-1, and no timetable for Walker’s return has been announced.
