Arkansas Couple Arrested for Attempting to Sell Baby for $1,000 and Beer

The couple faces felony charges after allegedly trying to negotiate the sale of their two-month-old child at a campground.

Darien Urban, 21, and Shalene Ehlers, 20, were arrested on September 21 after a campground manager reported their actions to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
The couple allegedly signed a contract to transfer custody of their baby to Cody Nathaniel Martin for $1,000 and beer.
Witnesses reported the baby needed medical attention for severe diaper rash and blisters, leading to the child being taken to a hospital.
The baby is currently in the care of the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
Urban was released on a $5,000 bond, while Ehlers remains in custody with a $30,000 bail; both face felony charges of endangering the welfare of a minor.
