Arkansas and Texas Tech Prepare for Shorthanded Liberty Bowl Clash

Both teams face significant roster challenges as they aim to end their seasons on a winning note in Memphis on Friday.

  • Arkansas (6-6) and Texas Tech (8-4) will compete in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Friday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, with kickoff set for 7 PM ET on ESPN.
  • Arkansas will be without key offensive players, including SEC receiving leader Andrew Armstrong and leading rusher Ja’Quinden Jackson, both of whom opted out to prepare for the NFL Draft.
  • Texas Tech will rely on freshman quarterback Will Hammond, starting for the first time after Behren Morton's season-ending shoulder surgery, and star running back Tahj Brooks, whose status remains uncertain.
  • Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, a dual-threat player with over 2,800 passing yards and 521 rushing yards this season, will lead an inexperienced offense missing several starters due to opt-outs and transfers.
  • Texas Tech enters the game with defensive struggles, ranking 122nd nationally in total defense and allowing 34.5 points per game, while Arkansas’ defense is ranked 66th in total yards allowed.
