The hires underscore Silverfield’s plan to pair Memphis continuity with SEC and NFL pedigrees.

Overview

  • Arkansas announced Marion Hobby as defensive line coach, Eddie Hicks as cornerbacks coach and David Johnson as running backs coach.
  • The additions bring Silverfield to eight assistants on staff, joining coordinators Tim Cramsey, Ron Roberts and Chad Lunsford plus position coaches Jeff Myers and Larry Smith.
  • At least four members of Silverfield’s Memphis staff are now at Arkansas, including Cramsey, Myers, wide receivers coach Larry Smith and head strength and conditioning coach Noah Franklin.
  • Johnson arrives from Florida State, where he coached running backs and coordinated recruiting as the Seminoles led the ACC in rushing yards per game and rushing touchdowns in 2025.
  • Hobby joins after a season on Tennessee’s staff and eight years in the NFL, including a Super Bowl LVI run with the Bengals, while Hicks comes from Cincinnati after prior roles at LSU and Jacksonville State.
