ARK Cuts Tesla Stake and Scoops Up Broadcom in January Tech Rotation

The shift reflects Cathie Wood’s buy-the-dip approach after China’s guidance pressured Broadcom’s VMware unit.

Overview

  • ARK Invest sold 86,136 Tesla shares on Jan. 14 for about $38.5 million across its flagship funds.
  • Broadcom was a major buy with 143,089 shares purchased for roughly $50.7 million after a 4.1% pullback tied to China’s software vendor warning that cited VMware.
  • Despite the trim, Tesla remains ARK Innovation ETF’s largest position at about 10.68% of the portfolio, valued near $805.7 million.
  • Tesla slipped about 1.8% the day CEO Elon Musk said Full Self-Driving will switch to subscription-only after Feb. 14.
  • Other moves included selling roughly $6.4 million of TSMC and $5.8 million of Unity Software, while adding about $1.7 million of Klarna and $679,000 of Kodiak AI.
