Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt Out for Season With Foot Surgery

Coach Kenny Dillingham tapped Jeff Sims to start at Iowa State with Leavitt sidelined.

Overview

  • Leavitt will undergo season-ending surgery for a lingering foot injury, Dillingham said Friday on 98.7 FM.
  • Leavitt hurt the foot Sept. 20 at Baylor, missed the Oct. 11 game at Utah, and exited the Oct. 25 loss at Houston twice after being seen in a walking boot.
  • He will not travel for the Iowa State game, with Sims set to start at quarterback and Cam Dyer serving as the backup.
  • Through 2025, Leavitt has 1,628 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, plus 306 rushing yards and five rushing scores.
  • Dillingham said he has not discussed Leavitt’s next steps or long-term status; Arizona State is 5-3 and also has key injuries including center Ben Coleman, safety Xavion Alford, and a doubtful Jordyn Tyson.
