Arizona Man Sentenced to 49 Months for Antisemitic Threats to Jewish New Yorkers

Prosecutors said the case stemmed from a months-long interstate barrage of antisemitic threats, with a later search turning up weapons.

Overview

  • A federal judge in the Southern District of New York sentenced Donovan Hall, 35, to 49 months in prison and three years of supervised release after his guilty plea to interstate threats and stalking.
  • Over roughly three months, Hall sent about 1,000 calls and messages threatening to torture, rape, mutilate, and kill Jewish victims and their families.
  • Targets included the Jewish owner of Manhattan’s Historic Blue Moon Hotel, along with the owner’s relatives and hotel staff, following threatening calls that began in August 2024.
  • Hall escalated by texting photos of two firearms and a machete; agents recovered those weapons and ammunition in a November 2024 search, with the guns unregistered and one loaded.
  • U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton described the conduct as a sustained campaign of intimidation, and Hall submitted an apology to the court at sentencing.
