Overview

  • Arizona overturned an 8-6 deficit in the seventh inning with a four-run burst, capped by Maddox Mihalakis’s go-ahead single, to win Game 2 by a 10-8 score.
  • Mihalakis finished with three RBIs and Tommy Splaine added a two-run homer as the Wildcats collected a season-high 16 hits.
  • Junior closer Tony Pluta worked 2⅓ scoreless innings to secure the victory and improved his record to 3-0.
  • North Carolina starter Raul Garayzar exited early and the Tar Heels’ bullpen yielded key runs during Arizona’s late surge.
  • The series is tied 1-1 and the winner of Sunday’s noon Eastern Game 3 on ESPN will advance to the College World Series in Omaha.
