Arizona Activates First Turquoise Alert for Missing 6-Year-Old

Investigators have issued the alert to prompt public leads in a case they say involves non-custodial mother Sarah Coultas fleeing with her daughter in violation of a court order

  • On July 23, the Arizona Department of Public Safety issued the first-ever Turquoise Alert to find 6-year-old Violet Coultas.
  • Video surveillance captured Violet, a 3-foot-10-inch, 43-pound girl with blonde hair and hazel eyes, at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on July 12.
  • Authorities believe Sarah Coultas, who does not have legal custody, fled Hawaii with her daughter in violation of a court order.
  • Emily’s Law, signed by Gov. Katie Hobbs on May 21 and launched on July 10, empowers the Turquoise Alert system to locate endangered missing persons under 65 in unexplained circumstances.
