Overview
- Michael Duke Thomson filed a December 2025 complaint in U.S. District Court in Nevada against Aria Resort Casino and MGM Resorts seeking a jury trial, damages, and a declaration that the markers are unenforceable.
- Thomson alleges he was drugged or otherwise incapacitated during the early hours of Jan. 24, 2024, when Aria told him the eight markers were issued, and he says several signatures only loosely resemble his.
- His bank alerted him on May 10, 2024, that Aria submitted eight markers totaling about $75,000, which the bank returned with five labeled “Not Authorized” and three marked “NSF.”
- According to the complaint, security found him asleep in the Sky Suites lounge, detained him in a holding area, later banned him from the property, and did not inform him then of any alleged debt.
- The Clark County District Attorney charged him in Nov. 2024 with bad check and theft counts tied to the markers, a case dismissed in Oct. 2025 after restitution, and Aria and MGM had not publicly responded to the new suit as of filing.
