Argonauts to Add Schultz and Volpe to All-Time List on August 9

Toronto has bolstered its lineup with two U.S. signings to shore up depth after recent injuries.

Overview

  • The Argonauts announced on June 17 that late offensive lineman Chris Schultz and former player and builder Nick Volpe will be inducted into the franchise’s all-time list during a pre-game ceremony at BMO Field on August 9.
  • Schultz starred for Toronto from 1986 to 1994, earned CFL All-Star honours twice and helped the team capture the 1991 Grey Cup before his death in March 2021 at age 61.
  • Volpe played from 1949 to 1952, contributed to Grey Cup wins in 1950 (the “Mud Bowl”) and 1952, and later served as head of Canadian scouting before his passing in August 2021 at age 95.
  • Also on June 17, the Argos signed American running back Kevin Brown and linebacker Aaron Casey to reinforce the roster after Saturday’s losses.
  • Toronto is managing injuries to linebacker Wynton McManis and running back Deonta McMahon as it prepares to host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday night.
