Argon Tanker Blaze on Patlipada Bridge Doused as Traffic Eases

Overview

  • The fire erupted in the driver’s cabin of a tanker carrying 19 tonnes of non-flammable argon while crossing Patlipada Bridge on Ghodbunder Road.
  • The driver halted the tanker and evacuated safely before fire tenders, a rescue vehicle, two towing vans and a crane contained the blaze within 30 minutes.
  • Cooling operations and crane-assisted removal of the damaged tanker are underway to fully clear the bridge after jams stretched up to five kilometers.
  • No injuries were reported, and Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell continues to monitor the site for any further risks.
