Overview
- The central bank's Balance Cambiario, published on Oct. 30, showed private net dollar purchases of $3,410 million in September driven mainly by cash sales, payments for services and transfers.
- The report breaks September demand into $2,471 million in banknotes, $668 million for services and current expenses, and $426 million in transfers without a specified purpose.
- BCRA estimates roughly $800 million of September purchases covered card and service spending, $800 million remained deposited in local banks, and $800 million increased external asset holdings.
- A goods trade surplus of $3,317 million supplied most of the dollars, but service, interest and dividend outflows narrowed the current-account gain to $1,521 million versus $5,510 million a year earlier.
- International reserves fell by $2,167 million to $46,092 million as the BCRA and Treasury partially offset outflows while a $794 million IMF repayment and other capital and interest payments drove the decline.
