Argentine Taylor Swift Fans Camp Out for Months Ahead of Latin American Eras Tour Shows

Taylor Swift's Argentine Fans Implement Rotational Camping System for Optimal Concert Positions, with Careful Planning Spurring Social Media Reaction and Criticism Amid Safety Concerns

  • Taylor Swift fans in Argentina have been camping outside Buenos Aires' River Plate Stadium since June, months in advance of Swift's three shows as part of her Latin American Eras Tour, starting November 9.
  • The fans, dedicated to achieving optimal concert positions, have a rotational camping system, with an internal spreadsheet tracking around 60 people per tent, and the longer they've been in a tent, the higher the chances of being one of the first in line.
  • The rules of the rotational camping system, leaked online in June, incentivise longer stays in the tents: camping during a storm or spending a full night grants double hours, and staying overnight in a tent is mandatory at least once a month, alongside maintaining a minimum of 60 hours monthly.
  • The campers, despite dealing with public criticism, rowdy soccer fans, and sleeping on concrete, have adapted to their new routines over the months, visiting nearby convenience stores and gas stations for essentials, studying, making friendship bracelets, and bonding over their common interests.
  • There have been security concerns due to the tents' exposure to the public. However, according to the fans, local police have been supportive, especially on soccer match days, offering safety measures and advice.
