Argentina's Weather Service Issues Orange and Yellow Storm Alerts Across 14 Provinces

  • The SMN has orange alerts today for Santiago del Estero, Tucumán, southeast Chaco, west Corrientes, north Santa Fe, north Córdoba, north La Rioja and east Catamarca, citing storms that may be locally severe.
  • Yellow alerts extend to Misiones, parts of Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, Córdoba, La Rioja, Catamarca, Salta, east Jujuy, northwest Chaco and east Formosa, with storms of varied intensity, gusts up to 70 km/h and 30–70 mm of rain.
  • A separate yellow wind alert is in force for the entire east coast of Santa Cruz, with west winds of 50–70 km/h and gusts that could top 100 km/h in some sectors.
  • Following intense heat in Salta on Sunday — including 37.5°C in San Ramón de la Nueva Orán — a frontal system today is forecast to bring storms and a marked cooldown near 22°C.
  • Authorities advise staying indoors, securing loose objects, avoiding flood‑prone areas, disconnecting appliances if water enters and preparing an emergency kit with essentials.
