• The Marcha Federal Universitaria is set for Wednesday, September 17, in front of Congress to reject President Javier Milei’s veto of the university financing law.
• The National Interuniversity Council confirmed that rectors will join the mobilization alongside unions including CONADU, CONADU Histórica, FATUN, FEDUN, CTERA and UDA.
• The Chamber of Deputies is scheduled to convene at 13:00 that day to debate the presidential veto following an opposition request for a special session.
• The veto, already published in the Boletín Oficial, argues the bill failed to specify funding sources as required by Law 24.156.
• The Senate-approved measure would mandate monthly inflation updates to operating and salary budgets, retroactive pay recomposition from December 2023 and the convening of paritarias, as rectors warn universities are operating in a “critical” state.
