Argentina’s Summer Road Checks Find 966 Alcohol-Positive Drivers in First Half of January

Officials vow sustained summer enforcement to reduce road risk.

  • ANSV reported 231,962 vehicles inspected across 2,913 operations from January 1–15, resulting in 5,085 infringement reports.
  • Alcohol positives totaled 966, with extreme readings including above 3 g/l in General Güemes (Salta), 2.84 g/l in Gualeguaychú, and 2.71 g/l on RN12 in Misiones.
  • Daily checkpoints operated at 39 strategic locations in coordination with provincial and municipal authorities.
  • Frequent non-alcohol violations included 838 for lack of RTO/VTV, 586 for missing documentation, 586 for not using seat belts, 372 for plate issues, and 30 for misuse of the shoulder.
  • Parallel CNRT inspections covered 46,731 trucks and buses, issuing 1,019 sanctions and ordering 116 vehicle retentions (87 trucks and 29 buses).
