Overview

  • Senators approved university financing 58–10 with 3 abstentions and a national pediatric emergency 62–8 after a marathon session.
  • The chamber also struck down four delegated decrees and a DNU that sought to dissolve or transform agencies including Vialidad Nacional, INTI and INTA, plus deregulate the Marina Mercante.
  • Milei denounced the outcome in a Council of the Americas speech, calling Congress “macabro” and saying he intends to veto both newly passed laws over fiscal concerns.
  • The university law drafted by the CIN targets expanded operating funds, reopening of wage talks and a funding floor cited as 1% of GDP, with a special fund for strategic careers.
  • The pediatric law orders immediate salary recomposition for health staff, exempts critical shifts from the Ganancias tax and authorizes budget reallocations and contingency reserves, with cross-bloc backing that included two Cambia Mendoza senators.
