Overview
- Nucleoeléctrica and Candu Energy signed a non-binding memorandum to jointly market engineering, technical assistance and maintenance services for CANDU reactors internationally.
- The agreement was executed at the Canadian Embassy in Buenos Aires by Nucleoeléctrica president Demian Reidel and Candu Energy’s Gary Rose.
- The cooperation covers support for operating and potential future CANDU plants, including specialized engineering, critical component maintenance, system modernization and full refurbishments.
- Argentina’s Embalse plant, refurbished in 2019 and supplying roughly 3% of national electricity, underpins the offering as a high-performing CANDU reference.
- The announcement comes as the Economy Ministry advances a 12-month process to sell 44% of Nucleoeléctrica, with asset valuation ordered and the utility reporting strong 2024 revenues and surpluses.
