Argentina’s Knowledge-Economy Exports Set Record as Sector Becomes Third-Largest Earner

Peso appreciation inflated dollar tallies, raising competitiveness concerns despite robust demand.

Overview

  • Argencon reports US$9.685 billion in exports between July 2024 and June 2025, up roughly 20.6–20.8% year over year, with Q2 2025 also at a record US$2.447 billion (+15.5%).
  • Knowledge services now represent about 12% of Argentina’s total exports, and direct employment reached approximately 283,500 after a net gain of 3,200 jobs.
  • Professional services led the mix with just over 64% of exports and outpaced software and IT, which contributed roughly 28–33%, with significant intra-company flows.
  • Argencon attributes much of the dollar increase to the peso’s revaluation, which is squeezing margins and complicating new contracts even as global demand remains strong.
  • AI adoption is advancing, with around 67% of firms using it, and the chamber projects exports could reach about US$30 billion in 10 years if stability and talent supply persist, with some forecasts pointing to roughly US$11 billion in 2026.
