Argentina’s Judiciary Begins January Recess, Limiting Service to Urgent Cases

Urgent cases go only through the MECC during reduced hours with e-filing confined to courts on duty.

Overview

  • The judicial summer recess runs from January 1 to 31, with attention restricted to urgent matters and cases facing expiring prescription periods.
  • High courts issued acordadas naming on-duty leaders and staff, including Jujuy’s rotations for Federico Francisco Otaola (Jan 1–11), Mariano Gabriel Miranda (Jan 12–18) and Martín Francisco Llamas (Jan 19–31).
  • Santiago del Estero’s Superior Tribunal appointed Dr. Eduardo Llugdar as President of Feria for the entire month, with designated secretaries and rotating chambers across the period.
  • In Mendoza’s First Judicial District, the Mesa de Entradas Central Civil is the sole intake for urgent and time-critical filings, with public hours set from 8:00 to 13:00 and operations from 7:30 to 13:30.
  • Electronic submissions are enabled only for on-duty courts during the recess, and all duty offices must file activity reports by February 10, including lists of withdrawn files and any system access use after the break.
