Argentina’s Inequality Eases in Q2 2025, INDEC Says

High informality alongside a 27.2% gender pay gap constrains broader gains.

  • INDEC reports the Gini coefficient fell to 0.424 from 0.436 a year earlier, remaining above Q2 2023 (0.417) and Q2 2022 (0.414).
  • The top 10% now capture roughly 31.5% of income and earn about 18 times the income of the bottom 10%.
  • Average per-capita income reached $537,024 and the median was $392,000 for the total population.
  • By individual strata, average incomes were about $300,990 for deciles 1–4, $804,370 for deciles 5–8, and $2,185,949 for deciles 9–10.
  • Labor accounts for 78.4% of household income, while salaried informality stands at 37.7% and total informality at 43.2% (about 8.5 million workers).
