Overview
- The Universidad Torcuato Di Tella Government Confidence Index rose 8.1% month on month to 2.10 out of 5, based on fieldwork conducted October 1–14, roughly 20 days before the election.
- All five subindices improved: honesty 2.50 (+2.5%), capacity 2.47 (+3.8%), efficiency 2.06 (+10.5%), overall evaluation 1.73 (+10.2%) and interest 1.73 (+18.1%).
- Despite the monthly rebound, the index fell 13.4% year over year and remains 25.7% below October 2017 levels, though it is 37.9% above October 2021.
- Confidence was higher among men (2.31) than women (1.91) and stronger in the Interior (2.33) than in Buenos Aires City (1.91) and Greater Buenos Aires (1.70), with older voters and those with tertiary education showing notable gains.
- The rise followed steep drops in August (−13.6%) and September (−8.2%), and coverage cites a U.S.-backed package—including a swap, about $20 billion in operations and Treasury peso purchases—as a pre‑election stabilizer.
