Argentina’s Export Boom Caps 2025 With Record Wheat Shipments to Asia

Low global prices keep dollar inflows below past peaks despite larger volumes.

Overview

  • Goods exports from January to November totaled $79.592 billion (+9.5% y/y) on 132.2 million tonnes (+13.8%) as average prices fell 3.7%, with the Pampas region accounting for about 70% of the value.
  • Record December wheat loadings are estimated at roughly 2.48 million tonnes, with Indonesia and Vietnam overtaking Brazil for the month and Argentine FOBs among the most competitive at about $198–205 per tonne.
  • China resumed purchases of Argentine wheat for the first time in decades, including a 65,000‑tonne cargo, broadening destinations for the new crop.
  • The 2025/26 wheat harvest is tracking a record near 26.8–27.7 million tonnes, yet export revenues are projected around $3.5 billion because international prices remain unusually low.
  • Agroindustrial exports in November reached 10.09 million tonnes for $4.715 billion, the sector’s best November in at least a decade, with broad gains across major complexes.
