Argentina’s Domestic Work Panel Agrees Five‑Month Pay Rise and One‑Time Bonus

The CNTCP set a retroactive Aug. 1 pay schedule with a tiered August bonus that will be folded into base pay in stages, a move whose impact depends on employer registration and legal publication.

Overview

  • The Comisión Nacional de Trabajo en Casas Particulares reached the agreement on Friday, August 21, to raise minimum pay across five monthly steps (Aug 1.9%, Sep 1.8%, Oct 1.7%, Nov 1.6%, Dec 1.6%) and to pay a one‑time non‑remunerative August bonus up to $20,000.
  • The August bonus is tiered by weekly hours: 16+ hours = $20,000; 12–<16 hours = $11,500; <12 hours = $8,000, and it will be incorporated into the salary base in three stages (25% in September, 50% in October, 25% in November).
  • The first 1.9% adjustment is retroactive to Aug. 1 and the new hourly and monthly scales will apply once employers update payrolls and register workers in ARCA and the resolution is published in the official channel for full legal effect.
  • Sector context limits how far the gains reach in practice: NGO surveys report an average monthly domestic wage near $338,700 with half below $300,000 and an informality rate around 77.5, while CEPA found 30,133 fewer registered domestic jobs between Nov. 2023 and May 2026.
  • Because the bonus will become part of the remunerative base by November, workers face higher taxable income and social contributions and employers face rising labor costs, so compliance, registration and official publication will determine whether workers actually see durable income and protection gains.
