Sharp increases in fruit, beef reported by INDEC pushed basic-basket costs higher for households.

  • Food and non‑alcoholic beverages rose 3.1% in December 2025 versus a 2.8% overall CPI, putting annual rates at 32.2% and 31.5% respectively, according to INDEC.
  • Price surges were led by lemon (+31.2%) and apple (+16.4%) along with beef cuts such as asado (+13.5%), cuadril (+10.4%) and nalga (+9.9%), while tomato fell 33.7%, onion 3.0% and potato 1.1%.
