Argentina’s Commerce Employee Day Shifted to Monday, Sept. 29, 2025

The sector-wide accord seeks to enable a long weekend for mercantile workers.

Overview

  • FAECYS and the main employer chambers (CAC, CAME, UDECA) signed the date change on August 27 in Buenos Aires.
  • The observance moves from Friday, September 26, to Monday, September 29, without altering the holiday’s legal protections.
  • Mercantile employees are not obliged to work and, if they do so voluntarily, must receive a 100% pay surcharge under the LCT.
  • Stores are not required to close and may open if attended by owners or by employees who choose to work under the corresponding pay rules.
  • The agreement was submitted to the national Secretariat of Labor for homologation and Boletín Oficial publication, with administrative formalization pending.
