Argentina’s Banks Will Close Nationwide on Nov. 6 for Día del Bancario

The sectoral holiday under the collective agreement commemorates the banking union’s 1924 founding.

Overview

  • Branches will not serve the public on Thursday and official foreign‑exchange operations will be halted.
  • Home banking, mobile apps, ATMs, digital wallets, card payments and cash withdrawal at participating retailers will operate for routine transfers and payments.
  • Transactions requiring staff—teller services, check clearing, account procedures and branch FX—as well as most term‑deposit and mutual fund settlements will post on the next business day.
  • Scheduled obligations dated Nov. 6, such as loan installments and utility bills, will typically shift to Friday without penalties, though the posting of some interbank credits may vary.
  • Argentina’s central bank also flagged additional non‑operating bank dates this year: Nov. 21, Nov. 24, Dec. 8 and Dec. 25.
